Television presenters Ant and Dec brought the first episode of I'm a Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here! to an abrupt close on Sunday night, as a tradition ended up being scrapped.
As everybody awaited the presenters usual walk into camp, viewers were surprised to see it didn't happen, as an early trial twist ensued, reports Chronicle Live.
The big twist in the first show of the new series was that four of the celebs, two of whom had been voted by the public to be Jungle VIPs, were sent to a deserted island, while their fellow campmates were getting prepared to bed down for the first night in camp.

And there was also some big news for the Jungle VIPs - Boy George, Olivia Attwood, Scarlette Douglas and Chris Moyles - when they found out they'd be participating in the first trial before even entering the jungle. While Olivia seemed excited at the prospect, Chris definitely had a sense of impending doom.
Typically, Ant and Dec end each episode of I'm a Celebrity by entering the camp, but given that there was no public vote on who should do the trial - the tradition was scrapped for one night.
Just as Ant was discussing how much he had missed camp, Dec interrupted by telling viewers: "So, we already know the VIPs are doing tomorrow's trial, which means Ant and I don't need to go down into camp tonight."
As Ant threw his arms up in frustration, he concluded: "So that's it from us. We'll be back tomorrow from 9 o'clock with the first trial of the series. See you then."
I'm a Celebrity resumes on ITV on Tuesday, November 8 at 9pm. You can catch up with previous episodes on the ITV Hub.
