MUMBAI: A day after smoke filled the passenger cabin of a SpiceJet Bombardier Q400 aircraft flying from Goa to Hyderabad, another aircraft from its turboprop fleet faced a technical issue which had its pilots abort a take-off from Mumbai airport runway on Friday evening.
The problems began even before the passengers boarded the 5.40 pm flight SG-3003. "We were made to wait for over 30 minutes in the passenger coach bus as the airline crew and staff were confused over which of the BombardierQ400 aircraft was to operate the flight," said Subhagat Das, national HRD head of Bharatiya Pratiraksha Mazdoor Sangh, a trade union that organizes civilian workers in factories and other establishments under the ministry of defence. "The aircraft finally pushed back at 6.45 pm, taxied to the runway and accelerated for take off run, but at high speed the pilots aborted the take off. Some passengers shrieked and panicked," he said, adding that the government should probe the matter.
