Tottenham Hotspur have sacked interim manager Christian Stellini following their humiliating 6-1 defeat at Newcastle on Sunday.
Spurs were 5-0 down inside 21 minutes at St James' Park in what has been widely regarded as one of the worst performances in their Premier League history. Stellini took responsibility for deciding to move away from their usual back-five before reverting to it by introducing Davison Sanchez on 23 minutes.
The Italian had been in caretaker charge for less than a month, with Antonio Conte sacked at the end of March, and will be replaced by Ryan Mason for the remainder of the season including Thursday's game against Manchester United.
