Bultaco, the Spanish marque that gave us legendary machines like the Sherpa T and Metralla before disappearing in the early 1980s, is back again. But rather than restarting a long-dead Spanish factory or spending a fortune developing motorcycles from scratch, its latest revival is taking a route that’s becoming increasingly familiar: China is providing the industrial muscle.
The first motorcycle from the revived brand is the Rally GT 300, a small adventure bike expected to hit Spanish dealers in September for 3,999 euros, or roughly $4,700, depending on exchange rates. It’s powered by a liquid-cooled 292cc single making around 28 horsepower, with a six-speed gearbox, 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, switchable ABS, and adventure-bike styling that looks ready for someone to immediately bolt six aluminum boxes onto it.
