A man has been charged with domestic violence offences after police found a woman’s body inside a western Sydney apartment, after earlier failing to locate the source of a domestic dispute.
Police received an anonymous phone call about an alleged domestic dispute at a Liverpool apartment block about 11.45pm on Friday.
Officers arrived at the unit block about 3am on Saturday, but were not able to find the apartment where the incident had occurred.
Inquiries into who had made the phone call continued throughout Saturday, police said.
About 8pm Saturday, police were called back to the Liverpool unit block, where they found the body of a 34-year-old woman.
A 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with domestic violence offences, including stalk/intimidate intending fear of physical etc harm, contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO and destroy or damage property.
He appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday where he was refused bail.
Local detectives will work with the Homicide Squad under Strike Force Midian to investigate the woman’s death.
NSW Police will also analyse other circumstances of the incident through a critical incident investigation, which police say will be independently reviewed.
The man is assisting police with those inquiries.
Police are expected to address the media over the arrest later on Sunday.
