'Annoyed' David Beckham, Victoria Beckham Reportedly 'Clashing' Over Harper's Future

David Beckham and Victoria Beckham are reportedly at odds in London over how 14-year-old Harper should balance her education with growing involvement in 'Brand Beckham,' as the teenager prepares to launch her own beauty line with the backing of both parents, according to a report.

The news came after months of growing interest in Harper's role in the family's expanding business world. The youngest of the Beckham children has slowly stepped into the spotlight, with David, 51, and Victoria, 52, presenting a carefully managed, united front in public.

Behind the scenes, though, a source quoted by heat magazine claims there have been 'quite a lot of clashes' over what, exactly, Harper's future should look like.

According to the insider, the central point of tension is a promise the couple say they made years ago. 'From an early age, they were committed to Harper going to university; they both felt it was really important to set out that path for her,' the source said. That, on the face of it, sounds straightforward enough. But once the couple began plotting the growth of their various brands, things appeared to have slipped out of sync.

Brand Beckham Plans Put Harper At The Centre

David Beckham and Victoria Beckham have spent the past decade turning their names into a sprawling lifestyle machine encompassing fashion, fragrance, fitness, media, and endorsements. Harper's entry into that world has not been accidental.

She joined Instagram in September and is already working on HIKU by Harper, a debut beauty line positioned as her own venture rather than an offshoot of her mother's company.

The source claims Victoria, who oversees her own successful Victoria Beckham Beauty range, became 'a little too enthusiastic and excited' while sketching out the next phase of the business.

She was allegedly 'planning for this aggressive expansion in a few years' time when Harper had finished school and could dedicate herself fully to the business, and there was no mention of university plans.'

That, the insider says, did not go down well with David. 'It really upset David that Vic was disregarding something they had discussed as her long-term future. That was a big issue for him and he was really annoyed with her. It showed a gap in their business strategies. It's been their biggest row over their plans for Harper.'

No representative for David Beckham or Victoria Beckham is quoted responding directly to those claims, and nothing has been confirmed publicly.

David Beckham, Victoria Beckham And The Education Question

The suggestion that the couple are clashing over Harper's education will strike a particular chord, given the different routes their three older sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, have taken.

The same source describes Harper as 'the most academic of the kids, she does well in school and is the one who inherited the business smarts.' Victoria, who has spoken in the past about leaving school to pursue music, is said to be especially focused on that side of her daughter's life.

'Her own lack of education is a bit of a sore point,' the insider claimed. 'Not that she felt she ever needed it to be successful, but she would have loved everything that came with it so she could prove herself.'

There is a certain irony in that. The report suggests Victoria both wants Harper to have the traditional markers of academic achievement and simultaneously sees an irresistible opportunity in harnessing her growing profile now.

The source puts it bluntly, Victoria wants Harper to be able to say she is 'the smartest one in the family' to head off accusations of having things handed to her, but also believes 'you have to grab all opportunities.'

Romeo, 23, briefly followed his father onto the pitch before retiring from football in 2024 to concentrate on modelling. Cruz, 21, fronts a band called The Breakers and appears intent on music.

Brooklyn, 27, famously left a photography course at Parsons School of Design in New York in 2019, later pivoting towards food influencing and lifestyle content. Earlier this year, he publicly criticised his parents, something the source says has weighed heavily on David.

'David is determined not to repeat the mistakes he felt they made with Brooklyn, who publicly denounced his parents earlier this year,' the insider said.

According to that account, he has told friends he believes Brooklyn quitting Parsons 'was probably the biggest mistake of his life, and they should have done more to encourage him to stay.'

That history allegedly colours his reaction to Victoria's reported focus on Harper's business potential. The insider claims he saw her fast‑tracked plans as an attempt to 'override' their shared commitment to the university.

Victoria, for her part, is said to have heard it as a veiled criticism of both her own non-traditional path and her handling of Brooklyn.

The picture that emerges is of two highly driven parents trying to choreograph a future for a 14-year-old who is, by all accounts, bright, ambitious and already central to a lucrative family brand.
