The 50th anniversary of an East Kilbride school was recognised with an Early Day Motion (EDM) in Westminster.
St Louise Primary School held a special service and mass to commemorate its incredible half century centenary.
The school opened in 1972 and to mark the event East Kilbride’s MP, Dr Lisa Cameron, raised an EDM in the UK Parliament.
It reads: " This House congratulates St Louise Primary School in East Kilbride on its fiftieth anniversary, opening in 1972 to support the learning of primary children across the Murray and Whitehills area of East Kilbride whereby local street names celebrate outstanding national heritage including David Livingstone, Lord Kelvin and Thomas Telford; notes the reopening of St Louise Primary School in November 1991 after it was tragically destroyed by fire; celebrates that St Louise is proudly the only school in the whole of the United Kingdom to be named after Saint Louise."
The motion adds: "We thanks and congratulates staff, pupils and parents involved in making St Louise Primary School a wonderful environment of learning, education and spiritual development for local young people...and wishes St Louise Primary School the very best for the future."
Headteacher, Siobhan Moody, told Lanarkshire Live : "We had an open evening to let people take a ‘trip down memory lane’ where the turnout was fantastic with so many people eager to catch up with old friends, look through the fantastic array of photos, children’s work and to reminisce about their time here.
"Our school leadership team supported our visitors on their tour around the displays and the staff did an amazing job of pulling together archives of material to have out for everyone to look through.
“We are immensely proud of our school community and everything it has achieved over the last 50 years.
"It has been a pleasure to celebrate this milestone with so many people who cherish their time in St Louise and who have very fond memories of being part of this wonderful community."
Ms Cameron said she was "so pleased" to have the anniversary recognised.
