Annie McCarrick disappearance probe upgraded to murder investigation as gardaí travel to US

The investigation into the disappearance of Annie McCarrick has been upgraded to murder after the discovery of new information.

The American, who came to live in Ireland in 1993 having previously visited as a student in the 80s, vanished 30 years ago this week.

A Senior Investigating Officer has been formally appointed to lead this investigation.
