Anne Heche's estate sued £1.6m by woman whose home was destroyed by star's fatal crash

The woman whose home was destroyed when Anne Heche crashed her car into it is suing the late actress’ estate for $2million (£1.6m).

Lynne Mishele was inside her LA home on August 5 when Anne’s car ploughed into it and burst into flames.

Emergency services battled to save the Six Days, Seven Nights star who was trapped in her car for 40 minutes and suffered a severe anoxic brain injury.

But the actress never regained consciousness and was taken off life support a week later from her injuries at the age of 53.

Now Ms Mishele’s attorney has reportedly filed a lawsuit in the Superior Court of California on November 9 claiming nearly £2million in damages.

According to documents obtained by PEOPLE magazine, Mishele requests “at least $2million” in damages for “negligence, infliction of emotional distress and trespass”.

Ms Mishele does not actually own the house as she was renting it at the time of the crash, which has been ruled an accident.

But the lawsuit claims she and her three pets – two dogs named Bree and Rueben and a tortoise called Marley – “barely escaped physical impact from the crash”.

She adds she has been left “severely traumatised and without a place to live” as a result, is unable to sleep and is battling “acute anxiety and depression”.

The court papers reportedly state: “As a result of the deadly incident caused by Heche, the home and all of Plaintiff’s personal property were completely burned and destroyed.

“This included an entire lifetime of possessions, pictures and mementos, all her business papers and equipment, her laptop and iPad, all of her clothing, basic necessities and household items.

“In addition to losing all of her possessions and being physically uprooted, Plaintiff has suffered and continues to suffer severe emotional distress and professional hardship.”

Detailing the effect it has had upon Ms Michele, the documents continue: “Plaintiff has been unable to sleep and is battling acute anxiety and depression.

“She has also been unable to operate her home business because of her physical displacement and fragile mental health caused by Defendants’ irresponsible behaviour.”

It adds: “She has received counselling but remains traumatised by Defendants’ actions.”

The tragic incident occurred on the morning of August 5 in the Mar Vista neighbourhood of Los Angeles.

It was reported Anne crashed her car twice - first into an apartment complex and then a second time into another home.

She was declared brain dead after the crash but kept alive for another seven days so her organs could be donated.

As Anne didn’t formally leave a will, her estate and the amount it is worth is still up for debate.

Her ex-husband James Tupper, with whom she shares 13-year-old son Atlas, claims it is worth $2million.

But her elder son, Homer Heche Laffoon, 20, has claimed it is only worth $400,000.
