Anne Heche has given up to eight people the gift of life after her tragic car crash and untimely death.
The actress was pronounced dead at the age of 53 after she was taken off life support on Sunday.
The Six Days and Seven Nights star had spent just over a week on life support following her horrific crash on August 5 in which she suffered severe anoxic brain injury and lung damage from smoke inhalation.
She was pronounced brain dead on Friday, which in California means the individual has died, however, she was kept on life support in a bid to preserve her organs while authorities searched for suitable matches.
It's believed that surgeons had removed several of Anne's organs, according to sources to TMZ, and it has now been reported that Anne has given the 'gift of life' to eight people who desperately needed her help.
It is not known how many or which organs have been donated but, according to NBC News, surgeons were ready to perform the implants as soon as her life support machine was switched off.
Before her tragic death, Anne's family released a statement in which they revealed it had "long been her choice to donate her organs and she’s being kept on life support to determine if any are viable", as they confirmed the star had died.
Following Anne's tragic death, a representative for her family shared a touching tribute to the late star, telling TMZ: "We have lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend.
"Anne will be deeply missed but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work, and her passionate advocacy. Her bravery for always standing in her truth, spreading her message of love and acceptance, will continue to have a lasting impact."
The actress' ex-girlfriend, Ellen DeGeneres, was among those sharing tributes to the late star following news of her condition at the weekend.
The 64-year-old, who dated Anne from 1997 to 2000, wrote on her Instagram story and Twitter : "This is a sad day.
"I'm sending Anne's children, family and friends all of my love."
Anne first rose to fame portraying twins Vicky Hudson and Marley Love on the soap opera Another World, winning a a Daytime Emmy Award and two Soap Opera Digest Awards during her time as a soap star from 1987 - 1991.
She branched out into movies in the 90s and appeared in hit features such as Donnie Brasco (1997), horror movie I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), the drama-thriller film Return to Paradise (1998) and the Gus Van Sant's 1998 remake of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho.
