The original 2006 film became a bonafide hit, living on in sleepovers and in the hearts of many… and now, it sounds like the sequel is about to be modernized in a very pivotal way.
In a recent profile of Hathaway in Harper’s Bazaar, Streep revealed her co-star’s commitment to one specific aspect of the production. With aspects of the real-life fashion industry factoring into the movie, including scenes set during real runway shows at Milan Fashion Week, Hathaway went out of her way to ensure that the film wouldn’t feature “skeletal” body types. Given the recent conversation around diet culture and body dysmorphia, especially in the realm of celebrities, Hathaway’s decision might be arriving at the perfect time.
