Bowls champ Daniel Pool is set to celebrate his world title win tomorrow at a party in his honour in Annan Bowling Club.
The 21-year-old player clinched the Under-25 World Indoor Bowls Championship crown last weekend by beating Troon’s Darren Weir in the final.
He scooped a trophy and £1,000 prize money.
Members watched live on television at the club as the action unfolded last Saturday morning and now they are staging a bash for him to mark his success.
Daniel, from Annan, said: “I was chuffed to win the trophy, it was a good day.
“There was a celebration down there (Great Yarmouth) and I was feeling a bit rough on the Sunday.
“I have been playing bowls for 10 years now and it was a friend who got me into it.
“I am also a member of Carlisle indoor bowling and have been there for six years. I play there in the winter when the weather is bad and play at Annan in the summer.
“Now the members at Annan are holding a party for me this Saturday so I am looking forward to that.”
And the former Annan Academy pupil added: “I play once or twice a week but no more than that. Next up for me is the indoor leagues at Carlisle.”
