Anita Baker lashes out at Babyface fans and urges star to 'call off' the harassment

Anita Baker has hit out at Babyface and urged him to get his fans to back off her on social media.

The Twitter beef sees the songstress saying his fans are bullying and threatening her after he was pulled from being a support act at one of her concerts last month.

The ballad singer who took the industry by storm in the 1980s with tunes like Caught Up in the Rapture and Sweet Love dubbed Babyface's faces "Kenny's Crazies" - his real name is Kenneth Brian Edmonds.

She tweeted on Monday: "Kenny's Crazies are online Bullies. @Babyface Please call off, your fans. I have been Only Kind and Supportive, of You, as the Special Guest/Support, on My Tour."

The comment came after she had earlier jibed: "Good Morning, to... Kenny's Crazies, who continue to Harrass [sic]."

It wasn't the first hit out on the social media platform either and followed her tweet last night which read: "As you can see... Some of his fans, are Not accepting of the Reality, that he is Contracted, as Special Guest/Support, on My Tour Some even want to hurt me... Crazyyyy. Town."

She had earlier moved to clarify Babyface was just a special guest and support act on the tour despite the "false narrative".

Anita urged Babyface to "tell you guys the truth" in order to clear up the aggression she said she had been facing.

Babyface had been due to perform as the support act at a New Jersey concert last month but took to social media on the night to tell fans he had been asked not to take the stage.

It was said he had been told not to perform so that Anita could fulfil her complete set after the show at the Prudential Center got off to a late start.

The When Can I See You singer tweeted: "I am truly sorry to my fans who have been waiting for us to hit the stage this evening at @PruCenter. I was asked not to perform in order to give Ms. Baker her space and time to perform her show in its entirety.

"My band and I are extremely saddened we didn't get to perform for y'all tonight." He followed up his words with a heartbreak emoji.

He blamed his no-show on technical issues, but many fans online took aim at Anita for not allowing him to perform any tunes.
