Anish Bhanwala ended the medal drought for India in the shooting World Cup Finals by bagging the bronze medal in the 25-metre rapid fire pistol event in Doha, Qatar, on Friday.
The 21-year-old Anish had a strong performance in the final, but for missing three of the five targets in the sixth series. Each series has five shots fired in rapid succession within four seconds. He had dropped only four of 25 shots till then. As luck would have it, Matej Rampula of the Czech Republic missed all five, leading to Anish sneaking to the bronze medal, one point ahead.
