Anime Ascendants Traits Tier List [RE-RELEASE] (December 2025)

Not sure what the best Traits in Anime Ascendants are? Formerly known as Special Anime Defense, Anime Ascendants is a massive overhaul of the original game, introducing new game modes, fresh mechanics, reworked units, and much more. With how grind-heavy the game is (and how limited resources can be), every decision matters. That’s exactly why I put together this Anime Ascendants Traits guide: to make your life just a bit easier.

Anime Ascendants Traits Ranked

At launch, the re-release introduced a total of 17 traits. Many of these are simply variations of the same trait with different values, such as Strong 1, Strong 2, and Strong 3. Like most systems in Anime Ascendants, each trait has a different pull rate, ranging from Rare and Epic all the way to Legendary and Mythic. Before we go into more details, let's first take a quick look at the tier list:

As you can see, the rarest traits are generally the strongest in Anime Ascendants. Since the monetization model revolves around grinding and gacha mechanics, you’ll be rolling and hoping to land the best traits for your character. With that in mind, let’s break down each Tier and explain why certain traits stand out, as well as why others fall short.

S+ Tier Trait

Trait Effect Evaluation Drop Chance
Ascendant Unit Buffs:
+325% Damage
+15% Range
-15% CD
Global Buffs:
+35% Damage
+20 Range
-10 CD
Limit:
One placed unit.
Not much to explain here, this is an all-around insane stat boost that massively buffs both the unit and all of your other units. 0.1%

S Tier Traits

Trait Effect Evaluation Drop Chance
Singularity +250% Damage
+10% Range
-5 CD
A massive damage boost, the biggest in the game after Ascendant. 0.125%
Slayer +10% Damage
+5% Range
+25% Boss Damage
Berserker is a better pick for the role, but this one is still a keeper if you ever get it. 0.7
Supernova +25% Damage
+10% Range
-15% CD
It offers a noticeably lower damage boost than Singularity, but makes up for it with better cooldown reduction, making it an excellent all-around choice for almost any unit. 0.5
Berserker +20% Damage
-15% CD
+35% Boss Damage
Struggling with bosses? Not anymore - just slap Berserker on your highest-damage units and watch them melt. 0.4
Golden +30% Damage
+25% Money
A great utility unit that offers a solid damage boost along with strong farming potential.
For maximum profit, place it on your main front-line damage dealer.

A Tier Traits

Trait Effect Evaluation Drop Chance
Godspeed -25% CD This is the biggest attack speed buff in the game. Throw it on your highest-attack units and watch their DPS go absolutely crazy. 1%
Expertion +20 XP If you're focused on leveling up your units, this is an excellent utility trait to run on your team while grinding XP. 4.925%
Strong III +15 Damage Not much to say here, just a strong, raw buff that goes well on any high-damage unit. 4.25%
Nimble III -15 CD -15% attack cooldown is the stronger buff for raw DPS comapred to just damage buff, so this is a really good pick at this tier. 4.25%
Range III +15 Range Range isn’t as impactful as some other stats in the game, especially since most strong units already have decent reach. That said, a 15% buff is still nothing to ignore, making this a solid trait to keep. 4.25%

B Tier Traits

Trait Effect Evaluation Drop Chance
Nimble II -10 CD As I said earlier, reducing attack cooldown (better attack speed) is superior compared to just buffing attack in terms of pure DPS. Thus, this is the best pick in this tier.
Strong II +10 Damage It’s a solid buff, but don’t stick with it on your main units. If you can, aim for a stronger (and rarer) trait instead.
Range II +10 Range It’s pretty meh, but still better than any Level 1 trait.

C Tier Traits

Trait Effect Evaluation Drop Chance
Nimble I -5 CD The strongest of the three in this tier, but you should generally try to re-roll Level 1 traits as soon as you have a chance. 4.25
Strong I +5 Damage Nice only if you don't have Magic Tokens to re-roll it right away. 4.25

D Tier Traits

Trait Effect Evaluation Drop Chance
Range I +5 Range Just ignore it, the weakest one of all. 4.25

How to Get Traits in Anime Ascendants

There are two ways of adding Traits to your characters in Anime Ascendants. The first way is by simply rolling characters and hoping that you'll get one with a Trait pre-equipped right out of the box. It's rare, but some of your pulls will come out with traits already attached to them. It seems this happens rarely, and there's no rule to it, but you'll still get it from time to time. The second and more reliable way goes like this:

  1. From the main hub, head to the Summon section.
  2. Once inside the Summon room, turn immediately right.
  3. You’ll spot an NPC vendor named Miki with a massive orange Traits sign above him.
  4. Walk up to Miki and interact with him by pressing E.
  5. The Traits screen will open.
  6. Choose the unit you want to add a trait to, or re-roll an existing one.
  7. Click the pink Reroll button to roll a new trait.
  8. If you like what you get, keep it. If not, roll again and try for something better.
  9. Select another unit and repeat the process.

And with that, our ultimate Anime Ascendants Traits tier list comes to a close. As the game evolves and new units and traits are added, we’ll continue updating this list to keep it fresh. But if the game fumbles, well, so does the tier list. And while you're here, don't forget to check out the Anime Ascendants Trivia answers and questions, it's free rewards basically!

Anime Ascendants Traits FAQ

Can units have multiple traits?

Yes, some units can roll multiple traits at once. If you’re lucky, you can even land double (or incredibly rare triple) traits on a single unit.

What do I need to roll traits?

You'll need a currency called Magic Tokens. One reroll will cost you 1 Magic Token.

Can a unit have a trait without rolls?

Yes, you can pull a unit randomly with a trait on it.

Can you transfer a trait from one unit to another?

No, you can't. You can only transfer stats, but not traits.

Is the Ascendant trait global?

Yes, the ally buff portion of the trait does not have an area of effect. Rather, it works globally, across the whole map.

Which of the three basic traits - Range, Nimble, or Strong - is the best?

The best one is the Nimble trait, as it provides the best raw DPS output, which is the single most important thing in Anime Ascendants. You should always keep it over Strong or Range.
