West Ham defender Angelo Ogbonna has posted a positive update as he ramps up his return from injury.
The Italian’s season was curtailed by a season-ending ACL injury picked up in the dramatic win over Liverpool in November.
A key figure in David Moyes’ first-team up until that point, the 33-year-old had started all 11 of West Ham’s Premier League games.
Currently, the former Juventus defender’s deal is set to expire at the end of the season but, such has been his importance to the cause, the club could activate their option to extend that by a further year.
Much of that, of course, will likely depend on how Ogbonna returns from such as serious injury, as well as West Ham’s ability to bring in further reinforcement.
Standard Sport understands they are keen on a move for Lille defender Sven Botman, who has also been linked with Newcastle United and AC Milan.
