Angelina Jolie has expressed her disdain for “liars” in her first public interview since finalising her protracted divorce from Brad Pitt last week.

Speaking to W magazine's Great Performances issue, the actress revealed her biggest pet peeve.

“My pet peeve is somebody who is a liar,” she said. “Somebody who feels a need to not say the truth or what they want, what they feel.

“There’s a big version of that - and I’m not trying to be heavy about it - but people who say one thing and mean another, who aren’t completely who they are. I think a lot of people don’t say what they mean.”

The remarks come after eight years of contentious legal disputes between Jolie, 49, and Pitt, 61.

The former couple battled over custody arrangements for their six children and financial disputes, including the ownership of Château Miraval, their French estate and winery.

The pair has repeatedly made damning accusations about each other, which the other has denied.

Jolie’s lawyer, James Simon, commented on the finalised divorce: “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt.

“She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time, she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family.

“This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

Despite the acrimony, a source close to Jolie said she remains careful about her words: “She doesn’t speak ill of [Pitt] publicly or privately. She’s been trying hard to be light after a dark time.”

The Academy Award winner, who is set to star alongside Halle Berry in the upcoming action film Maude v Maude, was wed to longterm partner Pitt for just two years before their separation in 2016. They were declared legally single in 2019.

However, their legal battles persisted, particularly regarding the 2022 sale of Jolie’s shares in Château Miraval, which Pitt said she purposely sold without his agreement.

The winery became a symbol of their marital discord after allegations emerged that Pitt was abusive during a private plane flight in 2016. Authorities later investigated but did not press charges.
