Angela Griffin has been one of the most recognisable faces on TV for the past 30 years.
From her breakout role as Fiona Middleton on Coronation Street to long stints in Holby City, detective drama Lewis and hairdresser series Cutting It.
At the moment fans will best know her for starring as teacher Kim Campbell in Waterloo Road, which returned with a new series in May following a 16-year break.
But what is Leeds-born Angela’s life like when the cameras stop rolling?
Although she might have been unlucky in love on-screen, the 46-year-old has been married 17 years and has two children.
She also has a string of famous pals she has been mates with for years after meeting on various acting jobs and the celebrity circuit.
Here’s everything we know about Angela’s life when she’s not on the TV actor husband
Angela found love with fellow actor Jason Milligan, who she met in the late Nineties.
After a whirlwind romance, the couple went on to tie the knot at Babington House - the Somerset outpost of Soho House - in July 2004.
Although Jason still works as an actor, having previously starred in Where The Heart Is, Waterloo Road and the 2021 film The Bull, these days the Newcastle-bon star is also a continuity announcer for ITV.
They might be approaching their 20th wedding anniversary, but Angela and Jason look as loved up as ever and try to enjoy date nights as much as possible.
Sharing the secret to what makes their relationship works, she told The Mirror: “We make each other laugh and are dead kind and nice to each other. Our family dynamic is the most important thing to us. There is nothing that could happen that would want to make me break that up.”
"We would work through anything," she insists. "I’d go to counselling for 4,000 years if I had to, to make sure that my kids have their mum and dad living in the same house, and I think Jason is the same. It’s not perfect, nobody’s relationship is perfect. But family is the most important thing for us."
Teenage daughters
Angela is a mum to two teenage daughters, Tallulah and Melissa and the family all live together in a house in north London.
She got pregnant with Tallulah nine months after getting together with Jason and her first born recently turned 19.
Wishing her a happy birthday on Instagram, proud mum Angela shared a picture of Tallulah – who could be following her famous mum into acting - with huge '19' balloons.
In the caption she wrote: “And just like that... #19. Happy birthday to my first born life changer.
“What a marvellous young woman you have become. Super proud of all that you have done and where you’re going. Keep doing what you’re doing my love. We love you so much xxx.”
Youngest daughter Melissa turned 16 in June. Posting a similar snap with '16' balloons, Angela wrote: “Well that’s gone in the blink of an eye! My June-born!!! Happiest of birthdays to my clever, talented, beautiful on the inside and out, youngest born.”
Max Beesley is her brother-in-law
Angela’s brother-in-law is none other than Mr Max Beesley, who is the step-brother of her husband Jason.
In fact, Homeland and Suits star Max is the reason Angela and Jason met and played a key role in their love story.
She told The Guardian : “My friend went on a date with Jason’s brother Max Beesley; she didn’t want to go on her own so Max brought Jason with him.
“Nothing happened that night – we were both in other relationships. Then, about six years later, we met on a night out, and nine months later I was pregnant.”
String of famous pals
Angela loves a night out and counts her former Cutting It co-stars Amanda Holden, Sarah Parish and Lucy Gaskell as close pals.
She has also remained good mates with Lisa Faulkner and Nicola Stephenson, who she met on Holby City.
Famous pals Tamzin Outwaithe and Tracey-Ann Oberman also feature on her Instagram feed.
Speaking about having bestie Lisa Faulkner round for dinner, Angela shared: "Lisa is more sensible these days. She’s at yoga five times a week. Her and John [Torode, Lisa’s boyfriend] come round for dinner.
"They wouldn’t dare judge my food, so I don’t feel under pressure. I’ll do a chilli or a big jerk chicken. We’ve made more food for them than they have for us! Me and Nicola can still go on benders with the best of them.
"We had an amazing time staying up till 3am, but our kids were up at 6.30am. We had a big breakfast, pulled on our boots and walked to the pub – that’s how I deal with a hangover. I want to carry on partying until I’m 50!"
