WNBA player Angel Reese recently shared on social media that she will be undergoing season-ending surgery due to a small crack in a bone in her wrist. The injury occurred when she fell on her hand during a game, resulting in the need for surgery to prevent potential long-term complications such as arthritis or further bone damage.

Reese explained in a TikTok video that she will have a small screw inserted into her wrist during the surgery and will be in a hard cast for four weeks followed by a soft cast for an additional two weeks. The injury, located in a challenging area with limited blood flow, posed a significant risk to her career if left untreated.

Despite the setback, Reese had an impressive season, averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game, setting a WNBA record for the highest rebound average in history. She also achieved a rookie record with 26 double-doubles, showcasing her talent and impact on the league.

Reese's injury has drawn support and sympathy from fellow players, including Indiana rookie Caitlin Clark, who praised Reese's work ethic and contributions to the league. The two players have been instrumental in boosting WNBA viewership, attendance, and merchandise sales throughout the season.

During her recovery, Reese plans to stay active by continuing her training regimen, engaging in off-court activities, and supporting her teammates from the sidelines. She addressed rumors of pregnancy in the video, clarifying that they were false and emphasizing her focus on her career and recovery.

As Chicago fights for a playoff spot, Reese's absence will be felt by the team, but her determination to stay involved and maintain her fitness during recovery reflects her commitment to the sport and her teammates. The Chicago Sky, currently in the final playoff position, will face Washington in their upcoming game.
