Ange's lack of Celtic concern won't be shared by fans as squad strength is called into question by pundit

Ange Postecoglou may not be worried by Celtic's recent slump after securing the Premiership title, but the fans will be.

That’s according to Neil McCann, who hasn't been impressed by the Hoops fringe players after a number were given a chance once the league trophy was safely locked back in the Parkhead trophy cabinet. Since confirming two-in-a-row, talk of breaking points and goal records have disappeared with Celtic yet to win since their title party at Tynecastle.

Wednesday night's 4-2 reverse at Easter Road comes off the back of a home draw with St Mirren and a derby defeat to Rangers at Ibrox. Postecoglou has dismissed concerns over his side’s form, pointing to the fact they they are champions and insisting that’s all that matters, despite his often repeated “we never stop mantra” not really being applicable over the last three games. Aberdeen are in Glasgow for trophy day on Saturday ahead of the Scottish Cup Final against Inverness, against whom a Treble can be won.

But McCann reckons punters won’t be so dismissive of recent results, which have suggested that Celtic’s squad might not be quite as strong as assumed. The Sportscene pundit said: “You can’t escape it. When Celtic are at full strength, they're just a brilliant side and they're champions for a reason.

“But when those first names of the team sheet guys drop out, then you’re expecting a squad with the strength of Celtic to take care of business. They haven’t. They’ve lost to Rangers, drawn with St Mirren and now lost to Hibs, albeit down to 10 men. They were quite open at times as well.

“It might not be a concern to Ange, but it will be a concern to the Celtic fans. They’ll say, ‘Look, the boys behind there need to be doing better’."
