Guglielmo Vicario has the opportunity to become Tottenham's No.1 for years to come once he completes his transfer from Italian side Empoli. Needing to bring in Hugo Lloris' long-term successor this summer with the 36-year-old on the lookout for a new challenge after 11 years in north London, Spurs are closing in on the signing of the Italian for a reported €19million (£16.3million).
Turning 27 at the beginning of October, Vicario has time on his side and he could quite easily follow in Lloris' footsteps if he can replicate his outstanding Serie A form in the Premier League. Opening up on why he became a goalkeeper in the first place when he was a youngster, the ex-Venezia shot-stopper gave an insight into his mentality as he stated that he "derives a lot of pleasure from the disappointment felt by players who fail to overcome obstacles".
Requiring players who can help take Tottenham to the next level, Ange Postecoglou could be set to add a player with the mentality needed to help Spurs get back on track after a very frustrating past few years.
