Ange Postecoglou warned of Tottenham 'toxicity' as Spurs 'strongly consider' Celtic boss

Simon Jordan believes Ange Postecoglou taking the Tottenham job would be 'natural progression' from Celtic, but that he would be hit with 'toxicity'.

The Hoops boss is a 'main candidate' for the vacant role at the Premier League giants after Spurs were snubbed by Feyenoord boss Arne Slot. Reports suggest the Australian is well in the running after the Dutch coach raised concern about the model employed by chief Daniel Levy in North London. It was believed Spurs were keeping Postecoglou a live option and 'strongly considering' him with Sporting's Ruben Amorim also said to be a candidate.

According to the Independent, 'good relations' between Tottenham and Celtic are being touted in the hope a potential deal could be done. The Hoops boss is chasing a Treble after another season of success in Glasgow and was previously thrown into the conversation for other top Premier League jobs, but insisted his focus was on the task at hand in Glasgow.

Pundit Jordan believes it would signal 'natural progression' for Postecoglou to jump ship to Spurs, but that the tete-a-tete with Levy and the fans would prove 'toxicity' would meet him when arriving in London.

He told Talksport: "He's a very good manager isn't he. And there's a natural progression there, whether Celtic fans want to hear that or not. The Premier League is a natural progression.

"Celtic are a wonderful football club and nothing I'm saying is detracting from that, but the Premier League is the biggest in world football. Managers are going to want to find themselves in that space if they have anything about them. If he feels his time at Celtic has run its course - but going to Tottenham has its challenges. And not just because of Daniel Levy, but because of Daniel Levy.

"Any manager looks in to there and thinks 'I'm a Levy appointment, I'm going to have the same challenges any manager has had'. They would be rowing against a stream of great toxicity and negativity towards the ownership model of this football club. 'Do I want that? Or do I think there might be an opportunity if I keep winning everything with Celtic? Keep progressing Celtic and I might even get a bigger job than Tottenham'."
