Ange Postecoglou to Leicester ridiculed by Celtic legend who asks 'why would you leave for a relegation battle?'

Confident Kenny Dalglish reckons the only way Ange Postecoglou would leave Celtic is if a top six English Premier League side came calling.

Ahead of Roberto De Zerbi's appointment as Brighton boss the Australian was heavily linked with a move to succeed Graham Potter at the Amex, and has now been touted south of the border as a potential replacement for Brendan Rodgers should he be axed at Leicester City with the Foxes sitting rock bottom of the table after a disappointing start to the season.

However, Dalglish insists there is no reason for Postecoglou to walk away from the Scottish Premiership title battle as well as Champions League football for a scrap for survival in the English top flight. The former Liverpool and Celtic boss insists there is a "special bond" between the Parkhead fans and the boss that will be tough for potential suitors to break if they come in with an offer.

Writing in his Sunday Post column, Dalglish said: "Ange has been at the centre of some speculation, due to the excellent job he has been doing at Celtic. Before Graham Potter left Brighton for Chelsea recently, by all accounts Ange was a name on Albion’s short-list.

"Now he is still being mentioned in England as a contender for the Leicester City job, should there be a parting of the ways with Brendan Rodgers. For me, though, that is a non-starter. Why would Ange want to leave Celtic to go there? Why would he leave a Champions League club for a team that may well end up fighting a relegation battle in the Premier League? So I would doubt that Ange would have a club such as Leicester City on his radar.

"He has rebuilt Celtic. The fans love him, and he loves the fans. It would take something special to break up that relationship. If he was linked with a top-six club down south, then that may well be a different story. That kind of thing would be a potential game-changer."
