Ange Postecoglou shrugs off Giorgos Giakoumakis Celtic transfer exit poser

Ange Postecoglou insists he's not thinking about a Celtic exit for Giorgos Giakoumakis as he refused to comment on transfer speculation.

The Celtic boss was probed on the Greek striker's future at Celtic Park with reports in Denmark suggesting he could make the switch to FC Midtjylland.

Postecoglou rebuffed a question on the 28-year-old forward and where he will be when the January transfer window closes as he insisted: “I just deal with what is in front of me".

"I don’t think about those things," said Postecoglou when asked if he's keen to keep Giakoumakis at Celtic. I don’t think about who I want to keep or who wants to leave.

"I just work on the basis of the group I have in front of me. If anything changes I deal with it.

"People have their own ambitions in their football career. My goal is to make sure we are supporting them in their endeavours. If they think opportunity is better for them elsewhere then we will go through that process."

Contract talks between Giakoumakis and the club reported stalled at the tail-end of last year leading to increased speculation over a January move.

The striker still has three years remaining on his current contract - but it's thought he could be interested in increased game time elsewhere.

Postecoglou could lose both Giakoumakis and Josip Juranovic in this window should offers come in - but Celtic are in strong position to negotiate.

For the Celtic boss, offers could force him to sell - which is why he's never allowed himself to become too attached to players.

He added: “I don’t think about it because I may want to keep all of them but I could get offers in for them.

"I think it was my first year of coaching that my favourite players left me after two games because he had a better offer so I have never fallen in love with them."
