Ange Postecoglou says Celtic could field Giakoumakis AND Kyogo against Rangers

Postecoglou drops Celtic vs Rangers hint as he refuses to rule out Giakoumakis & Kyogo partnership

ANGE POSTECOGLOU has refused to rule out starting both Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis against Rangers.

The Celtic boss has often played with just one central striker this season and has had to contend with both Giakoumakis and Kyogo being sidelined for significant spells.

However, ahead of the visit of Rangers to Parkhead on Sunday both players are fit and ready to play in the match.

For Postecoglou that's a major boost regardless of whether both start, or one starts with the other coming off the bench.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he explained: "We can play them both. From my perspective, every week you've got to look at the team and go with the lineup that will give us the best chance of success.

"It's not always about who starts. What's made us stronger since January is we've had contributions from most of the players.

"Giakoumakis or Kyogo, that was the tough one for us but we've got both now and they can both start. But if one of them starts, we know the other one can come on and make an impact.

"That's going to be important."

And quizzed on Kyogo's impact when starring for Celtic, he added: "Kyogo is a special player. We saw at the start of the year, he came in and straight away hit the ground running. Everyone could see what a special player he was.

"He has that unique quality that only certain kinds of players have in games. We've seen it before in big games where he wants to be the man in that position and more often than not he takes it.

"His movement is unbelievable and he's just got a really strong mentality in himself. When the big moments arrive, he wants to be the man and we're going to need that on Sunday."
