Ange Postecoglou rues collapsed Celtic Treble dream as he concedes Rangers won Hampden 'arm wrestle'

Ange Postecoglou insists he won't criticise his Celtic stars for their Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Rangers.

But he admits that doesn't stop him feeling disappointed after their Treble dream collapsed at Hampden.

The Hoops went into Sunday's derby knowing a win would put them within touching distance of a domestic clean sweep, having already clinched the Premier Sports Cup and put Premiership daylight between themselves and Rangers.

They took the lead through Greg Taylor but Scott Arfield pegged them back before Fashion Sakala forced Carl Starfelt into the extra-time goal that turned the semi-final on its' head.

It leaves Celtic with just the Premiership to focus on and Postecoglou is well aware it was a major chance missed to clinch another trophy.

But he stopped short of criticising their players - saying he can't fault the effort they put in.

A deflated Postecoglou told Premier Sports: "It was a tight game. I don't think either side really dominated for a great period.

"it's the nature of a semi-final, there's a lot at stake and they tend to be games where people are afraid to make mistakes.

"It ends up being a bit of an arm wrestle and we didn't have enough to get it over the line.

"You can be disappointed without being critical, it's a disappointing day for us because it was an opportunity for us to get to a final.

"But I can't fault the effort of the players, it was a really tight game. (Rangers) took advantage of their moments, we didn't."
