Ange Postecoglou ridicules Celtic exit poser as Aussie interviewer issues desperate national team return plea

Smirking Ange Postecoglou has shut down any chance of him leaving Celtic after he was quizzed about a return to the Australian national side.

Before finding success at Celtic Park, Postecoglou impressed with Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory in Oz, which would eventually lead to a four-year stint as national team boss.

He led Australia out at the World Cup in 2014, while also earning qualification for the tournament in 2018 before his resignation.

With the Socceroos struggling to reach Qatar 2022 and facing a last chance playoff against the UAE, Australian radio host Stephen Rowe issued a plea for Postecoglou to return after lifting the Scottish Premiership.

On Rowey's Sports Show, he asked: "If the FFA (Football Australia) rang you today and said the job is yours, come on back, come on Ange we need you..."

Before the Celtic gaffer laughed: "They probably won't get me today, I've got a busy day. It would go through to my messages, then I would deal with it then."

Rowe also put the Parkhead boss on the spot about where he sees himself going next, but Postecoglou kept his focus on what is happening in Glasgow's east end.

He said: "Next? Well if you had asked me 12 months ago I probably wouldn't have said this, so we are champions now and in the Champions League which will be enormous.

"You are playing against some of the best clubs in the world, but who is to know mate? I've never been one to plan a goal in my life because if I did I probably would have surpassed it 20 odd years ago.

"Every next step gives you a chance to be part of something special."
