Ange Postecoglou has urged his Celtic title fighters to bounce off the ropes and hit back from taking a painful punch.
The Parkhead boss is demanding an instant response to Euro disappointment when his charges tackle Dundee on Sunday.
Celtic go into the Premiership clash having lost a 17-match unbeaten run when floored by a bashing from Bodo/Glimt on Thursday.
But Postecoglou admits there can be no crying after suffering the savage blow and that his team have to come back swinging.
He said: “You have got to take a punch like you’re a good boxer and show, okay, it happens to the best.
“We can’t feel sorry for ourselves. Ultimately, this is part of football. You have got to take the knocks.
“It is not just about feeling good and going around beating teams.
“We have just got to dust ourselves off, not feel sorry for ourselves.
“The next challenge is Sunday, that is our focus. We want to continue our good form in the league and Sunday is an opportunity to do that.
“Every challenge is a new one. This is another one for us. It [Bodo/Glimt] is the first game we have lost in quite a while and how we react to it is obviously going to be important. We’ll see.
“So far this season we’ve reacted to challenges really well, but it’s another one and we have to show the right kind of reaction.”
Postecoglou will assess the troops in training today before making his final decisions ahead of the Dundee test.
He said: “Look, we’ll prepare the same way we always have, give them the feedback they need and the rest is up to them, as it has been all along.
“So far this season they’ve shown they’re a really resilient group of players. I expect to see that on Sunday.”
Next week’s return clash against Bodo/Glimt means alterations could be made, but he added: “It depends. The most important thing is we get the team right for Sunday and then we’ll have a look at Thursday.”
Celtic have scored 10 goals in two meetings with the Taysiders this season, but the visitors will have a new face in charge with Mark McGhee taking over from sacked James McPake.
Postecoglou has no view on the managerial switch and said: “I’m always reticent to talk about other clubs. What I know is we work on limited information. We don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes and those are better questions for them.
“I’ve often had people make judgements at clubs I’m involved with and they’re so wildly wrong for no other reason than they don’t have the information.
“Dundee have made a change, but their last results haven’t been bad.
“It’s another challenge. It was never going to be smooth for us this year.
“Football always has a way of making sure we keep it really focused one way or another and the result on Thursday gives us an opportunity to show how we respond to that.
“We’ve got to show in the same way that we’ve reacted positively before that we react positively to this.”
