A fascinating title race will resume on Sunday as leaders Celtic and rivals and champions Rangers take on both sides of the Dundee divide.
But Europe sill dominated the Hotline with the Light Blues basking in their stunning Europa League win over Borussia Dortmund in Germany.
And the fact Celtic went down to Bodo/Glimt in the Europa Conference League on the same night has given the Ibrox legions more ammunition.
Some Hoops fans have grudgingly applauded their arch-enemy on the result in the Westfalenstadion.
But not all of them. Kevin Kean, Inchinnan , said: “The Rangers performance has been amplified beyond reality. They deserved to win but a penalty, own goal, tap in and a freak goal by John Lundstram’s swinger doesn’t mean they dominated as the goalkeeper had no other saves to make.
“Dortmund will definitely score at Ibrox and if it’s in the first half then it could be all over and the crowing will cease.”
Stacey Allen said: “After all the expert analysis I’ve read on the Hotline from those with green-tinted glasses regarding the number of penalties Rangers get, can any one of them tell me if the referee in Dortmund was Scottish and if Rangers were powering the VAR cameras?
“Clearly the refs in Scotland must realise now that Rangers don’t get anywhere near enough penalties and decisions in their favour. It’s criminal.”
John Bruce emailed: “After inflicting Borussia Dortmund's worst ever Europa League defeat - in their own stadium - Rangers and their fans are obviously on cloud nine.
“The fact that it was done with two of our centre-backs missing and a left-back standing in makes it even sweeter.
“Celtic's defeat, given their poor Euro track record, was hardly surprising. Although the shift in narrative before and after the game was interesting.
"Minutes before, we were told that Celtic should win easily because Bodo/Glimt hadn't played for two months and had sold a few players, including their top goal-scorer.
“Minutes afterwards, we were told that Bodo were a very good team - the best that Celtic had played this season. It should be even more interesting next week when Bodo are more up to speed.”
Bill Park, Bathgate, said: “Rangers were wunderbar to beat the second best team in the Bundesliga, one of the elite leagues in Europe and ranks as one of their greatest results.
“The manager, staff and players deserve great credit for the win. It’s now onwards and upwards to title 56.”
Ciaran Mallon, Belfast, said: “Celtic winning and Rangers losing would normally be my preferred outcome on European nights.
“But I have to say that us going out to Bodo/Glimt and Rangers going through against Dortmund could be a blessing in disguise as the league has to be the priority and success in Europe can wait.”
Jimmy Mac, Glasgow, said: “I have to laugh at Chris Sutton giving it the big lips about Celtic beating Rangers and now defending Ange Postecoglou after their 3-1 loss to Bodo/Glimt.
“Does Sutton not realise it took Celtic more than two years to win that one-off game against Rangers?
“Sutton should be praising Rangers for the Dortmund win in Germany. a display which made Europe sit up and say Rangers were excellent.
“Also there is no mention about Rangers being Scotland's best club in European competitions and Scotland's best club in the European coefficient table.”
Regular caller and Celtic fan Gordon Ashley has been quiet and Gary Stevenson, Newtonhill, said: “Would anyone who has seen Gordon Ashley please report to the Daily Record Hotline .”
Lance Little, Erskine, said: “The same people as usual press the panic button after Celtic’s poor result on Thursday.
“It’s unbelievable. A poor result in a third rate competition to opposition that were better than us on the night.
“I'm not too fussed as it's the league title then yet another treble for the club that's the target.
“Been hearing Rangers are already through to the Europa League last-16 even though its only half time in the tie. They do make me laugh.”
The Hoops take on the Dark Blues on Sunday with Mark McGhee taking charge of the Tayside outfit for the first time.
David Bryce, Troon, said: “ Ange Postecoglou has to be ruthless on Sunday against Dundee.
“I don’t want to see Jota, Tom Rogic, Callum McGregor, Greg Taylor or Liel Abada in the side after their hopeless displays against Bodo/Glimt.
"They were all woeful and should be dropped. It’s time for Liam Scales, Nir Bitton and James McCarthy to get a run in the side. I’d also start young Ben Doak, who will at least run at his marker instead of turning back all the time, to get a chance.”
Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, said: “If Mark McGhee was that good he would not be going to Dundee.
“With his track record at previous Scottish clubs relegation looms and just and it’s just an old pals’ act with Gordon Strachan.”
