Ange Postecoglou says he is “really disappointed” his Tottenham side weren’t able to play their second pre-season friendly, against Leicester in Bangkok, due to a waterlogged pitch.
The Australian had lost his first match in charge of Spurs last week when West Ham beat them 3-2 in Perth.
But their chance to avenge that defeat by facing relegated Leicester at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok disappeared when heavy rainfall in the lead-up to kick-off saw the pitch flood and caused match organisers to postpone due to player safety amid a potentially heightened risk of injuries.
Speaking two hours after that announcement, Postecoglou said: “To everyone involved and particularly to our supporters — the ones here in Thailand, the ones who have travelled — we’re really disappointed with not being able to play the game tonight.
“The players, myself, were all really looking forward to it. We’ve had a great welcome here. I know a lot of you have travelled far and wide to see the boys in action, but unfortunately the weather Gods weren’t on our side.”
Postecoglou added: “Hopefully when we come back through here one day, we can actually go out there and perform.
“I really appreciate all your support, it’s been an outstanding welcome for us here, the players and I feel the love, and hopefully in the future we have a better outcome.”
