Ange Postecoglou has dropped a major hint that Celtic 's transfer business isn't done yet - telling fans he'll move for new faces "if the opportunity arises."
The Hoops kick off their Premiership season against Aberdeen on Sunday and go into the season looking in good shape. They've added four new players while also securing the returns of two heroes from last season in Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers as they gear up for a crack at the Champions League alongside their title defence.
Alexandro Bernabei, Benjamin Siegrist, Moritz Jenz and Aaron Mooy are the four new faces in the camp but Postecoglou has hinted that won't be it as far as new signings go. Speaking to the press ahead of Sunday's clash at Parkhead, the boss hinted that he won't hesitate to move in for more new faces if the right opportunity presents itself. He said "There's obviously still some weeks left in the window. There will be comings and goings between now and then for sure.
"We'll continue to work in the background. Our full focus is on the league now that's started and what's ahead of us, but we'll still be working to make sure that by the time the window shuts, if there's opportunities for us to get stronger, we'll take them."
Postecoglou has been applauded for the uncompromising, high-octane style of football he's deployed since taking the Celtic job a year ago. He was asked if he was worried about opposition managers sussing him out, and his response was typically blunt.
"It depends how closely they've been paying attention. My experience is they don't, usually," he said. "But that's the challenge for any football manager.
"We've got to be better than we were last year if we want to be as successful. We can't just go out there and play at the levels we did last year, it was enough to get us over the line but we want to be better. If we are better, it gives us a great opportunity for success.
"We've got to prepare ourselves for a tough season. We've got to approach it with the knowledge that people will stop us trying to achieve what we did last year. Our job is to perform to a better level so that doesn't happen."
