Ange Postecoglou in Celtic exit tout as Hoops manager tipped as Premier League boss candidate

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has suggested Ange Postecoglou as a potential candidate for the Chelsea job - but talkSPORT co-host Simon Jordan has shut his Celtic manager claim down.

The Stamford Bridge club have a reputation for hiring and firing managers, with the latest boss ruthlessly axed being Thomas Tuchel after a slow start to the season hit a new low with a 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.. New owner Todd Boehly is said to be keen on appointing a swift replacement and Brighton's Graham Potter is reported as been given permission to speak with Chelsea over potentially taking that position.

Postecoglou's stock is high after a heroic turnaround from the ashes of a failed bid for 10 Premiership titles in succession at Celtic Park to competing with European champions Real Madrid in the continent's elite competition. Speaking on the radio show, the question 'Postecoglou?' was put forward when discussing who could come in to the vacant London position.

Jordan replied 'Well, that would be a bit of a jump' but ex-Liverpool man Murphy returned to Postecoglou later in the discussion.

He added 'I know I said it with tongue in cheek, but could Postecoglou be considered' but Jordan immediately replied with 'It's about levels, isn't it? That's why I'd rule Potter out the equation.'

Murphy's final retaliation was 'yes, but he's shown his character.' Celtic return to action this weekend against Livingston.
