Ange Postecoglou delivers his Celtic title verdict as he's blown away by 'unbelievable' star

Delighted Ange Postecoglou saluted his side's "massive" win over Rangers as he waxed lyrical over skipper Callum McGregor

Goals from Tom Rogic and Cameron Carter-Vickers turned the game on its head after Aaron Ramsey had Ibrox rocking from only three minutes.

But Celtic stayed composed before displaying their battling qualities to repel the champions on countless occasions in the second period.

The league leaders are closing in on title glory only one year after they meekly conceded their crown as they lost out to Rangers by 25 points.

Postecoglou isn't for calling the title race despite a six-point lead but the manager who has sparked an incredible turnaround was left thrilled with his side's endeavours.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "Yeah, massive. I'm just really proud of the players.

"It's a difficult place to come to and they got off to a great start and you know in those kind of conditions everything is in their favour, it's going to take a massive effort to turn it around.

"I thought the boys were brilliant.

"They've had character from day one, that's what I keep saying, it's maybe been the one thing people have maybe overlooked, there is a real steel to this team, a resilience.

"We had to be, we lost three games of the first six, we were still putting a team together and the league had already started, but no excuses.

"We wanted to keep pushing on, we had to show that today, Rangers were at it, they put us under pressure, the crowd were behind them, but super proud of our efforts."

And he had kind words for goalscorer Rogic but he was also quick to point out the collective team effort led by all-action skipper McGregor.

Postecoglou also talked up his rearguard who produced a season-best display to leave Rangers bereft of answers.

He added: "I know Tom well, I had feeling today he would put in a big shift for us.

"He's been at this football club for a long time, he's had a lot of success, he knows what it is like to come here, particularly in these type of circumstances.

"I knew he would be up for it.

"He was great, they were all great today, led by an unbelievable skipper, Callum McGregor was outstanding.

"I thought we defended really well, they put a lot of balls into the box, Joe made a couple of good saves, but apart from that... the back four gets a little bit undervalued, they had to defend a lot today and I thought they handled it well."

Postecoglou is aware of the significance of the result but his focus is on next week's clash with St Johnstone as fans start to dream of title glory.

He said: "It's three points, mate, it's three points and there's another three points we need to get next week.

"We'll just keep accumulating them until it means something."
