Ange Postecoglou Celtic update on Cameron Carter-Vickers as he confirms star man WILL face Motherwell

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Cameron Carter-Vickers WILL face Motherwell.

The Celtic stopper was left out last weekend's crushing win over Kilmarnock with Yuki Kobayashi handed a starting slot alongside Carl Starfelt as the Hoops battered Derek McInnes' men in a stunning opening half hour at Rugby Park. The USA international watched on from the stands with his manager confirming the only reason he didn't feature was due to the astro surface at Rugby Park.

Reports this week have suggested that the Hoops defender could go under the knife before the end of the season and is playing through the pain barrier. However, Postecoglou refused to be drawn on those rumours and said he has trained all week and will take his place in the starting team at Parkhead tomorrow.

Rangers are on the horizon with a big Scottish Cup semi-final showdown at Hampden next weekend. Should Celtic pick up another big win at the national stadium they will be heavy favourites to go on complete a domestic Treble. The Aussie boss also confirmed should Carter-Vickers get through the Motherwell game unscathed he will play in the derby.

Speaking to the media ahead of facing Stuart Kettlewell's side, he said: "Cameron's trained all week and will play tomorrow. The only reason he didn't play last week was because of the surface."

Pressed on whether Carter-Vickers will need an operation, the manager bristled: "I can't predict the future. If he gets through tomorrow, he'll play next week."
