The endless debate over Messi and Ronaldo will likely go on until the end of time.
Everyone has their favourite “GOAT” with some militantly defending their world superstar of choice. The upcoming World Cup in Qatar could go some way to trying to settle the argument should the Argentine lift football’s greatest prize. Ronaldo, who has a Euros winners medal in his pocket from 2016, seems more concerned with lobbing grenades over his shoulder towards Manchester United in an attempt to get the hell out of Old Trafford.
The question was put to Ange Postecoglou before Celtic jet off to his homeland to take part in the Sydney Super Cup. Driving past a group of fans with his car window down, the Hoops boss is put on the spot with the Messi or Ronaldo poser.
He goes for neither, opting to big up one of his own stars. “ Jota, mate” is the simple answer, and is met with delight from Hoops fans loving the gaffer’s response.
The Portuguese winger has been a revelation since arriving on loan from Benfica last season. He made the move permanent in the summer and was in with a chance of joining Ronaldo in the Portugal squad for Qatar 2022.
Jota was included in his country’s provisional squad for the World Cup. But his dreams were dashed when he didn’t make the final cut, and will instead join his club teammates in Australia.
