Ange overcome with Celtic emotion as title-winning boss lifts lid on his early Parkhead fear

Emotional Ange Postecoglou offered a heartfelt Celtic thank you to his nearest and dearest after yet another title success.

The Parkhead boss was visibly moved by his side's 2-0 win over Hearts which made it four trophies out of five since arriving in Scotland with the chance of a Treble against Inverness next month. Kyogo and Oh made the difference after the champions made the most of Alex Cochrane's contentious red card which was given after VAR referee Willie Collum asked Nick Walsh to look again.

But the result was merely part of a bigger thank you from the Parkhead boss as he was quick to share the congratulations to those who matter most to him. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "Plenty people in my circle make sacrifices, my family, my kids, I've got the easy bit, I'm doing what I love but they are the ones which are a constant support. Not just my family, my friends, here and in Australia. The whole football club really embraced me from day one. For that, I take pride that I am able to give something back.

"It's not easy, you've got to put everything into this – it's a great responsibility. Any manager knows the responsibility you bear but especially at this football club. It takes a hell of a lot to get where we are, so massive effort from everyone, yeah you get emotional, as you understand what has gone into it."

And Postecoglou admitted defeat in Gorgie in his first match in charge had an effect on him as his patchwork Celtic side lost to a late strike. But he insists his belief never wavered and was certain good times would come. That has proven correct with only one league defeat since September 2021.

He added: "I did have a moment, at the end of that first game, it felt like we had a mountain to climb, literally. I had belief I could do something here in terms of building a team."
