BOXXER chief Ben Shalom has revealed that Anfield could be the venue for a rematch between Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jnr in the summer.
It was confirmed last week that the two will face off at the AO Arena in Manchester on January 21 in a huge middleweight showdown.
The ECHO understands that a rematch clause has been installed in the contracts both fighters signed last week. The move is not uncommon in modern day boxing.
Smith heads into the mouth-watering bout in the form of his life following wins over Jesse Vargas, Anthony Fowler and Roberto Garcia. And Shalom believes should the former Archbishop Beck pupil come out on top, then the rematch could well take place at Anfield, with the home of Liverpool BOXXER’s preference.

“That is Liam Smith’s dream. I’m a Liverpool fan and Adam Smith has dreamt of having a fight at Anfield for a long time,” he told IFLTV.
“I think if Beefy does the job on January 21 then I believe the rematch will be at Anfield. But it is a big fight and it is a 50-50. Eubank Jnr will have other ideas, but I believe that’s where the rematch will be if Liam does the job in Jan.
“Sign up tickets have started and we have had 30,000 people already sign up for the Manchester Arena date. It is a huge fight for the North West and it is a huge fight for British boxing.”
Smith, meanwhile, has vowed to expose Eubank Jr's 'vulnerabilities' and believes in doing so he will claim a memorable victory.
He said: "I'm excited about it. I know it can't be anything other than a good fight and it's one that I'm massively confident in.
"I just think I beat Chris Eubank Jr, it'll cement me as a big name in British boxing. I'm massively confident of doing that."
Before he added: "I rate him to a certain extent but I know he's going to be a tough fight for anybody because of the stuff he brings.
“He's a good athlete, he's strong, he's fit. I feel he's got loads of vulnerabilities to his game that I can capitalise on," he said.
"With 10 ounce gloves on, I land the right shot on anyone's chin, I'm confident I can hurt anybody. Chris Eubank Jr's no different. He's got a good chin but anybody can be knocked out.
"I do think he respects me. He'd be stupid not to. I've taken this on my terms, when I'm ready and I will be ready for January 21."
