Andy Whyment confirms his Coronation Street future after I'm a Celebrity exit

Andy Whyment has confirmed he will be returning to Coronation Street after his exit from I'm A Celebrity South Africa. Andy was axed from the show on Monday, May 8, alongside Made in Chelsea personality Georgia 'Toff' Toffolo.

The pair left the camp after losing a task against Jordan Banjo and Myleene Klass. Andy, who plays Kirk Sutherland on Coronation Street, explained that the show remains his priority reports Birmingham Live.

He said: "I’ve seen a lot of people come and go, thinking they’re going to go on to bigger and better things but Corrie for me is my number one, it always has and always will be." He told the Sun. “I grew up watching it as a kid and when I drive up to those barriers in the morning and they lift them up, I think ‘I'm still working on Coronation Street'.

“If I’d told myself growing up I’d be there 23 years, it’s amazing and touch wood many more years to come. I have a great work life balance, I go in, do my job and I love the banter that we have on set and long may it continue.”

Speaking after leaving the camp, Toff said: "I got on really well with everyone, especially with the girls. I am going to say I really did miss Stanley Johnson.

"I never thought I would say that, but I really did. I think when you make a special friend like I did last time, you're seeking it out. I love the company of older people, I think it's a privilege to be around them."

Toff added: "And whether it was Carol Vorderman, I loved her because when the days were dragging on, we'd sit and talk about anything that would sort of satisfy our intellectual hunger, which was so nice. I got on really well with Paul Burrell. I mean, the stories about the royals are so up my street.

"I think I now know everything about the royal family, which is amazing. I wouldn't say there was one person in particular this time, it felt like we were all sort of collaboratively getting on really well." I'm A Celebrity...South Africa continues on ITV1, and viewers can catch up on the full series on ITVX."
