Andy Walker's 'bold' Rangers prediction backfires as fans pounce on pundit's Hearts claim

Andy Walker's "bold" Rangers prediction backfired at Tynecastle - and fans were quick to remind the pundit.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side eased to a 4-0 victory over Hearts on Saturday despite Walker's hunch that the Jambos would do a number on them. The former Celtic striker had made the big call on Thursday that Robbie Neilson's men could pick up three points against the Light Blues at Tynecastle and he lamented the form of Gers duo Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent.

However Morelos came off the bench to net in the rout while Kent ended his 22-game goal drought to add to an Antonio Colak double which piled more misery on Hearts, who had Cammy Devlin set off shortly before half-time for a reckless challenge. Earlier this week, Walker told the Go Radio Football Show: "I'm going to be bold. I think Hearts will beat Rangers. I think they've got the players and again I was at Ibrox recently; saw Rangers win against Dundee United but there were frailties there.

"And you wonder about the makeup of the starting 11. I mean I am all for giving young lads a chance you know Charlie McCann, Leon King but it's not Rangers at their strongest and it's always interesting listening to Giovanni van Bronckhorst saying it's the strongest squad that he's there.

"I think Rangers have had a stronger squad certainly in Steven Gerrard's time. And maybe they have had players playing at a better level. You know Ryan Kent, (Alfredo) Morelos. We've already spoke about them. Of course (Joe) Aribo and (Calvin) Bassey I think were huge for Rangers but it will be interesting to see how they get on at such a difficult venue."

And supporters on social media were keen to aim a cheeky dig or two at Walker, with one rating his prediction "ridiculous". Another joked "that's why I'm a better pundit", while one simply added "brilliant".
