Andy Robertson Scores Winner As Scotland Beat Poland 2-1

Andy Robertson was the hero after his injury-time header helped Scotland claim a famous 2-1 win against Poland in the UEFA Nations League.

The Tartan Army captain’s 93rd minute effort means Steve Clarke’s side still has a chance of keeping their spot in League A for the next tournament in two years time.

Before then, the Scots will now participate in a two-legged play-off in March to determine whether they will remain in League A or face demotion to League B.

As it stands, Greece or Austria are potential opponents. The other two candidates will be determined after Wednesday’s final round of fixtures.

Tuesday’s win meant Scotland finished 3rd in Group A1 – just one point behind Croatia. The victory in Warsaw was the Tartan Army’s second in the November international break.

Prior to that, Clarke’s side hadn’t won in eight previous outings. They endured a miserable Euro 2024 campaign but the future is looking a lot brighter after their recent upturn in fortunes.

Andy Robertson Marks 80th Cap With Injury-Time Winner

Scotland captain Andy Robertson made his 80th international appearance and marked the milestone with his first Tartan Army goal in five years.

The game itself was bonkers from start to finish. There was a total of 35 shots on goal at the PGE Narodowy stadium in the Polish capital.

John McGinn opened the scoring for the visitors after three minutes. The Aston Villa star has now scored more international goals than legendary striker Ally McCoist.

Steve Clarke’s side could have put the game to bed but both Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay were denied by the woodwork in a frantic first-half.

Just before the hour mark, Kamil Piatkowski levelled for the hosts with a stunning effort. The Poles pushed for a winner but it was Liverpool defender Robertson who upset the odds.

Scroll down to take a look at the left-back’s winner.
