An Andy Robertson red card has left Liverpool fans seething after the left-back was dismissed against Fulham at Anfield.
The Cottagers took a surprise lead on Merseyside when Andreas Pereira’s deflected volley – off Robertson – went beyond the reach of Alisson.
Barely five minutes later, Robertson had a moment of madness when he wiped out Harry Wilson. The Welshman was through on goal after he capitalised on a mistake by the 30-year-old only to be hauled down.
VAR checked the original decision and decided the referee’s punishment was just. The check is understood to be for denying a goalscoring opportunity – not endangering an opponent.
At half-time, the west Londoners still lead in what could be a huge moment in the season. If the result stays in Marco Silva’s favour, of course.
Meanwhile, Liverpool supporters were quick to turn to X, formerly Twitter, to voice their opinions and concerns about Robertson’s rash tackle.

The Andy Robertson red card against Fulham could prove to be pivotal for Liverpool’s Premier League title push. And even his own long-term future at Anfield.
If the Reds were to lose, a win on Sunday for Chelsea would see Arne Slot’s lead at the top of the table cut to just a single point. Although, the Dutchman does have a game in hand over the Blues still.
Nonetheless, Robertson’s performances are really starting to be questioned. The 30-year-old has been a sensation since signing from Hull but his 2024/25 form leaves much to be desired.
Users on X, demanded that Robertson be sold after his moment of madness. Some want him replaced next month when the January window opens.
“We need a new left-back now,” fumed one user going by the handle of @javenlfc. Another robustly announced that it is crucial to get rid of Robertson as soon as possible.
“Honestly Andy Robertson has to be replaced in January if we are to stand half a chance at the title… looks so out of place of this level.”
