Andy Murray returns to action at the Dubai Tennis Championships looking to bounce back from last week’s disappointment
The Brit won just a single game as he was heavily beaten 6-0 6-1 by Roberto Bautista Agut in Qatar, a tournament he won back in 2008 and 2009.
This week in Dubai, Murray has received a wildcard into the main draw and faces Christopher O’Connell in the first round.
The Australian, ranked 148th in the world had to come through two qualifying rounds to set up a match with Murray, and reached the third round at the first Grand Slam of the season in Melbourne last month.
Murray lifted the trophy in Dubai in 2017, beating Fernando Verdasco in the final, but his first priority this week will be finding some consistency. The 34-year-old has struggled to back up positive performances recently, and will be hoping for a deeper run than he managed in Qatar.
Novak Djokovic, Andrey Rublev and Felix Auger-Aliassime are among the seeds at the tournament.
Here’s all you need to know about Murray’s match against O’Connell.
