Andy Murray will compete in the doubles at the French Open with Dan Evans as part of his return from injury.
Murray ruptured ankle ligaments at the Miami Open in March but has set his sights on one final Roland Garros appearance.
As such, the 36-year-old announced on Friday that, as well as confirming his previously rumoured Evans partnership, he also plans to compete in Bordeaux next week as he ramps up his preparations for the French Open.
The three-time Grand Slam champion has made no secret of his ambition to play at the Olympic Games in Paris later this summer but said he only planned to do so if a medal was an option.
Now ranked just outside the world’s top 50, that is unlikely to come in the singles for the two-time Olympic gold medalist, but in the doubles.
Evans is an accomplished doubles player who has been frustrated at being overlooked in that format of the game for Great Britain in the Davis Cup. Roland Garros is playing host to the tennis at the Paris Games.
Murray played with Joe Salisbury at the last Olympics in Tokyo, where the pair had looked formidable in the early rounds before being knocked out at the quarter-final stages of the event.
