Andy Murray's Wimbledon career has come to an end as his mixed doubles partner, Emma Raducanu, withdrew from the format due to wrist soreness. Murray, who was defeated in the men's doubles alongside his brother Jamie, played his final match at the Grand Slam in west London. The duo of Murray and Raducanu were scheduled to face Zhang Shuai and Marcelo Arevalo in the mixed doubles, but Raducanu's wrist pain forced her to pull out of the match. Raducanu, 21, had undergone surgery on both wrists in 2023.
Raducanu expressed her disappointment at having to withdraw, stating, 'Unfortunately, I woke up with some stiffness in my right wrist this morning, so I have decided to make the very tough decision to withdraw from the mixed doubles tonight. I'm disappointed as I was really looking forward to playing with Andy, but I've got to take care of my health.'
Murray, 37, a two-time Wimbledon men's singles champion in 2013 and 2016, has had a remarkable career in tennis. Despite this setback in the mixed doubles, Raducanu is still in the singles draw and is set to face Lulu Sun of New Zealand in the round of 16 on Sunday.
