Coco Gauff beat Dayana Yastremska in straight sets in the third round of the French Open today as the American third seed continued her bid to win a second grand slam, before the men’s No 2 seed Jannik Sinner saw off Pavel Kotov 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.
The biggest shock of the day came when Russian hot-head Andrey Rublev lost his cool spectacularly as he crashed out. The sixth seed had a heated argument with umpire Lazemar Engzell over the mark left by a disputed line call during the second set of his third-round clash with Matteo Arnaldi, and went on to lose in straight sets.
