Andy Burnham announces new unit to tackle Russian ‘lies and disinformation’

ANDY Burnham has announced a new unit to tackle online misinformation as he warned the UK is facing an “industrial-scale assault” from hostile states including Russia.

The Prime Minister said security chiefs had been ordered to begin work on a National Centre for Information Defence, which will aim to “detect, attribute and disrupt” hostile state information attacks.
