The Scottish FA 's Compliance Office Andrew Phillips will step down from his role this autumn, the governing body has announced.
He took up the role in February 2021 as he replaced Clare Whyte but has now decided to stand down to "pursue other career opportunities", state the SFA. Phillips joined from Jones Whyte Law, where he has been practising as a solicitor advocate in criminal and regulatory defence.
He will officially walk away from the role in November. Whyte replaced Tony McGlennan in the role back in August 2018, meaning the Hampden chiefs are looking for their third legal enforcer in the last four years. Phillips has since overseen a number of high-profile disciplinary incidents in the Scottish Premiership since taking on the role and will remain until the autumn to help ease his successor into the job. Gary Booth, Scottish FA Chief Governance Officer said: “Andrew has displayed significant professionalism throughout his time in this high-pressure role, particularly as football adapted throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The position of the Compliance Officer is a vital one in the Scottish professional game and Andrew’s commitment to the role has set a high bar for his successor. We would like to place on record our gratitude to Andrew for his hard work and dedication as we look to recruit his replacement.”
