Andrew Lloyd Webber auctions prized wine cellar for charity

  • Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber is auctioning a significant portion of his private wine collection through Christie's, with proceeds benefiting a music education charity.
  • The collection, stored for over 50 years at his Hampshire estate, includes rare vintages such as three bottles of 1947 Chateau Cheval Blanc, each estimated at up to £15,000, and a 1900 Chateau Margaux.
  • Funds raised from the online-only sale will go to The Music in Secondary Schools Trust (MiSST), an organisation providing musical instruments and tuition to disadvantaged children.
  • The selection features a wide array of fine wines, including Bordeaux, Pinot Noir from esteemed producers, White Burgundy, and various Champagnes.
  • The auction is anticipated to extend MiSST's reach to over 2,000 additional young people, building on the nearly 30,000 students already supported by the initiative.
