Manchester United target Andre Onana is expected to leave Inter Milan this summer as the Red Devils contemplate an offer.
That is according to ex-Inter goalkeeper Sebastien Frey, who has urged his former club to hold onto the Cameroonian and reject any advances from Old Trafford. The Red Devils have identified Onana as a potential summer recruit as doubt continues to grow over David de Gea's future.
The Spaniard sees his contract expire in a few days’ time and at the time of writing, there is no sign of an agreement on fresh terms. A number of goalkeepers have been linked as potential replacements, including Onana.
United might have encouragement to pursue a deal with Frey believing that the current Inter number one could be on the way out of the San Siro just a year after arriving from Ajax. Speaking to GOAL, he said: “Football today is different than it was in my generation.
“[Massimo] Moratti’s Inter could afford to keep a player regardless of the size of an offer that they received. Now, there are other needs to think about.
"But if it just depended on me, I would keep him. It’s difficult to find a great goalkeeper. If they want to win trophies, then they should keep him. Unfortunately, I think they’ll let him leave."

Frey’s assessment of the situation surfaces at the same time that the Red Devils are considering firming up their interest in Onana. Reports in Italy have claimed that an offer will be lodged for his services in the immediate future.
Tuttosport suggests that an opening bid will be tabled to Inter early next week. They stop short of revealing how much United will offer but the Italian giants already have a price in mind.
Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, suggest that Inter want to receive €60million (£51.5million) for Onana. They are open to negotiations but would be unwilling to go below €50million (£42.9million).
Onana, 27, only arrived at Inter from Ajax last summer after his contract with the Dutch giants expired. He made 41 appearances in all competitions during his debut campaign, keeping 19 clean sheets as Inter reached the Champions League final against Manchester City.
Should they fail to tempt Inter into selling, the Red Devils have a few alternatives in mind to go between the sticks. Porto star Diogo Costa continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford, whilst Everton's Jordan Pickford has also been rumoured to be under consideration.
Amid De Gea’s exit, academy graduate Dean Henderson could also be set for an exit. Nottingham Forest are trying to sign him after his loan spell last season.
