AMARAVATI: After successful implementation of the pilot project on 'Rice Age Test' in Andhra Pradesh, the ministry of food, civil supplies and consumer affairs has decided to expand the scheme to all the states to prevent recycling of Public Distribution Scheme (PDS) rice by mill owners.
The Centre has directed state governments to adopt the AP model to prevent leakage in the PDS scheme. AP State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited (APSCSCL) has successfully carried out Rice Age Test in the last two seasons and found the tests very useful to detect the age of the produce.
